Graduate Success Stories at the ǸԹ Tech Marietta Campus

ǸԹ Tech’s mission is to “provide superior education and training to our students for in-demand careers in a supportive, accessible learning environment, transforming student's lives and adding value to their communities.” This mission statement came to life recently at ǸԹ’s Marietta, Georgia campus.
Reginald H. Lindsey, a 2019 Electrical and Electronics Systems Technology (EEST) graduate became the City of Atlanta’s first ǸԹ Tech recruit. Mr. Lindsey started working in September in the Department of Watershed Management as an Electrician Assistant. He was discovered this past May at the City of Atlanta’s 1st Electrician Career Day at ǸԹ’s Marietta campus when he presented his resume to the Hiring Manager, and was interviewed on the spot.
“I am so pleased with the quality and caliber of student(s) at ǸԹ Tech, and am happy to have cultivated a relationship with a school that prides itself on preparing its students for success”, offers Shanea Walker, Associate Recruiter, City of Atlanta. “I look forward to working with ǸԹ Tech and recruiting more stellar students for the City of Atlanta.”
“One of the best parts of working with the city is that I get to interact with so many different people in the community,” explains Reginald. “It takes my job to a whole new level, and really stands out for me.”
ǸԹ Tech empowers an HVAC graduate with a second chance in life
Marcus McGhee graduated from the HVAC (Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Heating Technology) program at ǸԹ’s Marietta campus in 2016. He’s now employed as a Service Technician for the Atlanta branch of McKenney’s Inc., one of Georgia’s top HVAC companies.
Marcus reflects on how his ǸԹ Tech training led him to a hands-on career he loves, “In 2014 I looked at the bigger picture of my life: Where was I headed? Where should I be? After three years at the same company, I felt like I was stuck in a dead end job with limited room for growth, long hours and short pay.”
An opportunity opened up for Marcus to transfer to the HVAC side of his company, which would require training. He enrolled at ǸԹ Tech. “Two months into my program, my employer sold the HVAC side of the company,” Marcus recalls. “My initial reason for starting at ǸԹ was no longer an option, but I refused to give up. The promise to myself, and my family, along with the support of ǸԹ Tech’s staff, kept me focused and allowed me to pursue my second chance. Now I’m in a place that financially allows me to comfortably provide for my family.”
Deciding to enroll in ǸԹ Tech is making an investment – in yourself and your future. It’s requires hard work, determination and commitment. When you come out on the other side – maybe as a “first” hire somewhere - or a successful “second” chance, you’ll realize how much that sacrifice transformed your life.
